🎬 Lessons of Love – directed by Katarzyna Mateja & Małgorzata Goliszewska
Lessons of Love is a tender and humorous documentary about courage, freedom, and rediscovering oneself. The film’s protagonist is Jola – a lively, colorful woman who, after many years of a difficult marriage, decides to start a new chapter. At an age when most people long for peace, she chooses to fight for her own happiness and gives herself a chance at true love.
🎬 Kasia Mateja – director & photographer
A documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, and producer. She graduated in Film and Television from Edinburgh College of Art. She has worked on films in Poland, Italy, Scotland, South America, and Mongolia.
Her feature debut Silence on the Way to the Reindeer People won awards in Brazil and Portugal. Together with Małgorzata Goliszewska, she co-directed Lessons of Love, which premiered at IDFA in Amsterdam and was awarded at Millennium Docs Against Gravity as well as at many festivals worldwide. In her daily practice, she also works as a photographer and runs film workshops for young people.
✫ ABOUT THE FESTIVAL ✫
The Trondheim festival is part of the Let’s Get to Know Each Other series – Festivals of Polish Culture in Trondheim, Bergen, and Oslo, organized by We Do Culture and SIT Kod Krowa in cooperation with Bli Med in Trondheim. The aim of the initiative is to integrate the Polish community in Norway, strengthen linguistic and cultural ties, and promote Polish creativity in a contemporary dimension. It is a safe and open space where Poles can meet, share their stories, and build networks of support based on common experience.
This event is co-financed as part of the support of the Senate of the Republic of Poland for the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad in 2025.
