From Norwegian director Itonje Søimer Guttormsen comes Gritt (2021), an immersive character study that follows one woman’s relentless pursuit of artistic and personal transformation. The film follows Gritt (Birgitte Larsen), a struggling performance artist who, after years on the fringes of the art world, embarks on an unfiltered and often unsettling journey to realize her radical vision, no matter the cost.

The film offers a critique of privilege, ambition, and the illusion of creative freedom, Gritt captures the alienation and desperation of an artist navigating a system that constantly undermines her. With its intimate, documentary-like aesthetic and a tour-de-force performance by Larsen, the film is an unflinching exploration of self-delusion, sacrifice, and the thin line between genius and madness.
